What Are the Long-Term Consequences of COVID?

There are many health risks to be considered when taking COVID. For example, it may cause heart problems or even infertility. Lung complications are also possible. Some of the other problems include depression and delirium.

A new study reveals an increased risk of heart problems for COVID-19 patients, even if their condition wasn't already severe. The findings were published in JAMA Cardiology.

Researchers examined the health of 153,760 COVID patients. They found that those who had a positive COVID test had a 4% increase in the rate of serious cardiac events over the course of the next 12 months.

Even though the COVID-19 virus is thought to have escaped the virus's most grueling side effects, the resulting inflammation can lead to the development of myocarditis. Myocarditis is an inflammation of the muscle cells, making the heart work harder. It can cause abnormal heart rhythms and scar tissue.

Among the most serious lung complications after COVID treatment are respiratory fibrosis and ARDS. This is because COVID-19 leads to an immune response, which can affect various organs in the body. Among the symptoms of COVID-19 are shortness of breath, coughing, and fever. In addition, COVID-19 can cause pulmonary vascular disease.

Recent publications suggest that antifibrotic drugs may be helpful in fibrosing lung diseases. The use of antifibrotic drugs is well tolerated and may be beneficial in COVID-19. However, more studies are needed to better understand the role of fibrosis in COVID-19.

Several studies have shown that the COVID-19 virus can affect male fertility. However, there is limited evidence on the impact of the disease on female fertility.

A COVID infection can affect sperm quality and oocyte function. Studies have found that moderate to severe infections have caused testicular inflammation and reduced sperm count.
